Why is it matter

Traditional fairy tales often rely on simplistic character archetypes that lack depth, reducing their stories to straightforward moral lessons with clear distinctions between good and evil.

This project addresses this limitation by reimagining characters as multidimensional individuals with complex backstories and relationships, breathing life into the narrative. By structuring the story as an interconnected system of overarching plots, character-driven development, and sub-stories, it transforms static tales into dynamic, engaging experiences that resonate with modern audiences seeking depth and authenticity.

King George

As a child, he lost his entire family, except for the Queen Mother, to an epidemic and grew up believing she was responsible. To protect himself, he feigned an obsession with extravagant clothes. Despite this, he is kind-hearted, deeply values his people, and works secretly to maintain stability. He uses parades to give alms, earning him the nickname "The King of Wardrobe."

At his birthday banquet, aware the Magical Clothes are a lie, he assumes the Queen Mother holds all power because no one reveals the lie. Fearing chaos, he perpetuates the rumor, hoping it will keep people silent, as it claims the incompetent cannot see the clothes.

General Jay

He was raised by the former king. He is a sexist and a drunkard, stubborn and loyal. The fragmented words he inadvertently reveals when drunk at banquets seem to hint at his regret and pain over some past decisions. Being inebriated, he takes the liar's words for truth, thus further blaming himself.
kat.png

Minister Kat

A gossipy minister and supporter of the Queen Mother. During a chat with Nick at the banquet, she spills details about the current political situation and rumors about the royal power struggles, suggesting that the Queen Mother should rule the country. Later, in her musings, she reveals that the Queen Mother isn't someone who craves power for its own sake; she needs it to combat gender discrimination and to ensure women have fair opportunities in politics. She recognizes the frauds as the Queen Mother's agents and mistakenly believes that the Queen Mother intends to present the Magical Clothes to the king.

Fraud Cooper

Wield's younger brother, a simple man. Together with Wield, he dedicated "Magical Clothes" to the king, but in fact he is the only one who believes that Magical Clothes really exist, and he is actually a skilled tailor who is capable of weaving elegant clothes even with his eyes closed. He and Wield were refugees before being appointed by the Queen Mother. He unconditionally trusted Wield because Wield had save his life.

Minister Nick

A follower of Gaia and a member of the Spiritual Council, his conversation with Kat reveals the sacrifices King George made for the nation, showing his understanding and sympathy towards the king. However, he prefers not to get involved in power struggles, believing that Gaia will guide the destined person, and thus, allowing events to unfold naturally is best. This is why he remains silent during the frauds' performance. In conversations with the player, he shares Gaia's teachings, like the belief that, except for soldiers and generals, everyone should be barefoot to maintain a continuous connection with Mother Gaia, as we are all born from the earth.

Fraud Wield

Cooper's older brother, a sharp-tongued individual and a fervent supporter of the Queen Mother. He is acutely aware that his actions will lead only to his death, so he shares a secret with the player: the Queen Mother is unaware of his decision to present the Magical Clothes to the king. His actions are his own decision in aim of placing the Queen Mother on the throne.
